Manus Adamson Awarded MBE

Manus, Chairman of Marland and it´s parent company Adamson Group, has been awarded an MBE for services to the construction industry in the 2010 New Year’s Honours List.

After founding Adamson Construction Services in 1979 with his wife Winifride, their small family business has grown into a regionally recognised North West construction contractor. At the same time as growing this business, Manus was also keen to ensure that the grass roots “voice of construction” was heard at a local, regional and national level and became involved with various industry bodies.

Manus trained as a civil engineer and his first industry representative post was as the National Federation of Builders, Fylde Coast Association President. He then became North West Regional President and subsequently National Chairman of the National Federation of Builders in 1996. In 2001 he became Chairman of the Construction Confederation followed by an appointment as Treasurer. He is currently due to complete a year long post as Executive Chairman. Manus was also a key member of the Strategic Forum for Construction which is the leading body for the industry representing all sides of construction.

In all these positions, he has championed the value of the construction industry and been instrumental in supporting numerous initiatives aimed at improving conditions and creating opportunities for the industry’s development.

Manus said : “This award recognises the efforts of all those in the construction industry who have worked tirelessly over the years to improve the contribution the industry makes to UK citizens and the economy alike. I am delighted at this honour and will continue to press the case for the contribution a valued and skilled construction industry makes to this country.”
